About Me

Photography is something which interests me. With just three variables - Aperture, Shutter Speed and Sensitivity (ISO), you can make or break brilliant images.
I'll use this blog to share some of my pictures and my knowledge (or lack of it). Feel free to comment.
Having a Kindle on iOS has made life easier to purchase and read books. So, I started reading some books related to Photography which opened up more vistas to explore.
The Digital Photography Book, Volume 1 is for those people who want to capture good photographs without getting into the technicalities of why defining an aperture value of f/11 is good for a portrait. The language used in the book is quite amusing.
Exposure Photo Workshop is a fascinating book that explains exposure (the balance between Aperture, Shutter Speed and Sensitivity) in simple terms. The mathematical explanation of why apertures are called f-stops is one of the simplest explanation I have ever heard. After reading this, I am no longer confused between larger apertures (f/1.8) and smaller apertures (f/22).
The Photographer's Eye: Composition and Design for Better Digital Photos is another book that touches upon composition which is also another necessity to make good pictures. Just understanding exposures is not sufficient to make good pictures, how to place objects within a photograph - Composition, is quite nicely explained in this book. There are no simple sentences in this book, so read each line carefully.
